The word spread, people came and went, some went to school, some spent all of their non-sleeping time on the talker, others just popped in from time to time to keep in touch with their friends. The residency bore fruits and grew to over 800. Out of the hub came a crying from the residents, "What's happening? , Why? Who are they then?, How do I do that?!" Thus, it came to pass that the CrazyLands Newsletter was born. A stark naked, bumbling, rambling communication that was in need of some good parents and lots of brothers and sisters to guide, nurture and help it along the way. But above all to continue in the tradition of CrazyLands - to have FUN with it !! --- * Hot News! * --- * CrazyLands has its Own News Letter * But you already knew that , as you are reading it, so this article ends ! * CrazyLands T-Shirts: *THE* Official Spodding Gear! * Help support CrazyLands and show your true colors by getting your hands on one of the new, limited first-edition CrazyLands T-Shirts which are now available at a great price! There will be new features and updates added now each month - according to popular sources, so keep coming back for more! ---- * Admin Admissions! * ---- Hi everyone! Its been a great time for CrazyLands recently - or at least thats what most of us seem to think. We've had a successful move to a brilliant new site (courtesy of Nexus) and gone to a new version of the code which is the first release in nine months! Nevyn and I are pretty confident that we have most of the big bugs sorted out and are fairly stable now. As you can imagine, nine months of development throw up a lot of problems, so from now on we're intending to go to a new version at least once a month so we don't get to much of a backlog of new features. I know there's a shortage of help files at the moment, for which I apologise and grovel for. They ARE being worked on, I promise. Hey, have you all bought your CrazyLands tshirts yet? :) This section of CrazyNews will normally be a word from one of the admin telling you about plans for the talker, whether code based or otherwise. This first issue I'll just say hi and ramble a bit, as I've been doing! We're pretty pleased with some of the new things you can do with the code an intend to keep adding features slowly but surely. Just as a hint, look out for some really powerful twinkle editing features and maybe even familiars... but thats not a promise ;) I'm really pleased that CrazyNews has gone out recently, it's a project thats been talked about for well over a year. The admin thought about it, and have been trying to get it off the ground for ages, but have all been too busy. Its thanks to Raist's efforts and a sudden burst of free time that you're reading this issue at all, but we hope that the project will carry on under its own steam now. I'd like to say a personal thanks to Ostrich who started working on CrazyNews a year ago and kept the idea going. I'm sure if she wasn't wandering around the world at the moment she'd have had a bigger hand in this issue. Anyway, thanks for reading my rambles, I'll let you get back to the first issue of CrazyNews! Nice one guys! -- Swiff ---- * CrazyHumour * ---- Did you hear about the Magic tractor? It went up a road and turned into a field. Beer quotes... Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza. -- Dave Barry ( erm.. Dave .. you forgot CocaCola (TM)! ;) ) All right, brain, I don't like you and you don't like me - so let's just do this and I'll get back to killing you with beer. -- Homer Simpson *Groan*, okay, so these are terrible and that's why we need your help - send your favorite jokes in to the address at the bottom of the issue! ---- * Residents Homepages * ---- Check out http://www.crazylands.org for all residents homepages. If your site doesn't appear on the web ring email nexus (nexus@crazylands.org), who will arrange for your link to be added. ---- * CrazyStats * ---- CrazyLands is ever growing! As always, submissions to: crazynews@crazylands.org * Tutorials * Tutorials / more in depth examples of the more harder commands on CrazyLands. This section will also be used to give in depth examples of any new commands that come out with new releases. Look for the first tutorial in issue 2. * Telnet Programs * CrazyLands uses the Telnet protocol, so you must use some kind of Telnet client to log in. There are many types of programs available on the different computer platforms, and in this regular feature we will be discussing some of the more popular programs available today, and some of the new ones being released. Of course, for people who don't have access to a Telnet client, there is always CrazyWeb, with version 2.0 just released last month. This client, through the "help" menu on the web site, has direct access to information on some of CrazyLands basic features to get you started. It also supports all of the colours and other features that make CrazyLands what it is. CrazyWeb will continue to grow and develop alongside the base CrazyLands code, so if you have any suggestions or comments about the way it works, let us know and we'll try to put them in for the next release. --- * Classifieds, Correspondence section, Personals * --- This section is where ressies can submit info for other ressies to get in touch with them, or to start (or end) a love connection, or to buy or sell goods or information!
